Enable remote access on router

Remote access is disabled by default in the router's factory settings and may need to be enabled if required. The following are the necessary steps to activate remote access for:
Teltonika Routers
Advantech Routers

Routers preconfigured by Wireless Logic mdex (with 'Basic configuration') usually have enabled remote WebUI access via HTTPS port 4444. Please refer to the router configuration sheet for the remote access state:

Teltonika Routers

The following steps are based on the Teltonika firmware RutOS7 (from version R_00.07.xx onwards). The steps for the legacy firmware are generally identical but may differ slightly in the displayed layout:

  1. Log in to the router; see also Local Access to the Router Web Interface (WebUI).
  2. Navigate to System -> Administration -> Access Control and apply the following settings, depending on the firmware version in use:

    From Firmware Version R_00.07.15 onwards:
Ensure that the ‘Local access’ option (for local access to the WebUI) is enabled.
For remote access, the ‘Remote access’ option must be enabled for the desired HTTP/HTTPS service. The default standard ports under Port / Port Range (LAN) and Port / Port Range (WAN) can be modified if necessary.
Example for enabling WebUI remote access via HTTPS port 4444:

The Port/Port Range (LAN) may remain set to 443, while only the Port/Range (WAN) is changed to 4444. Local access to the router will then occur via HTTPS on port 443, with remote access via HTTPS on port 4444.

    From Firmware Version R_00.07.10 onwards:
Ensure that the ‘Local access’ option (for local WebUI access) is enabled.
For remote access, the ‘Remote access’ option must be enabled for the desired HTTP/HTTPS service. The default standard port under Port / Port Range can be changed if required. Example for enabling WebUI remote access via HTTPS port 4444:

    Up to Firmware Version R_00.07.09:
Ensure that the options ‘Enable HTTP access’ and ‘Enable HTTPS access’ (for local WebUI access) are enabled.
To enable remote access to the WebUI, the options ‘Enable remote HTTP access’ and/or ‘Enable remote HTTPS access’ (recommended) must be activated. The default standard ports, HTTP port 80 and HTTPS port 443, can be changed if necessary. Example for enabling WebUI remote access via HTTPS port 4444:

   5. Scroll down and click 'Save & Apply'.

   6. Remote access to the WebUI of the Teltonika router is now configured.

If using a Conexa SIM card, please observe this notice!

Advantech Routers

The following steps outline the procedure for Advantech routers:

  1. Log in to the router’s web interface.
  2. Ensure that under Configuration -> Services -> HTTP, the options 'Enable HTTP service' and 'Enable HTTPS service' are enabled:
  3. To enable remote access, under Configuration -> Services -> NAT, activate the option 'Enable remote HTTP access' or 'Enable remote HTTPS access on Port' (recommended). The default standard ports, HTTP port 80 and HTTPS port 443, may be changed if necessary. Example for enabling remote access via HTTPS port 4444:
  4. Scroll down and click 'Apply' to save the settings.
  5. Remote access to the web interface of the Advantech router is now configured.
