Remote access to a mobile router's web interface and connected devices can be achieved via web.direct. This link allows users to log in to a router's WebUI or a device from anywhere to adjust settings, perform diagnostics, or complete administrative tasks. The following screenshots are based on the configured web.direct links and may differ from your display.
Requirements
In order for you to have access to web.direct, you require the appropriate authorisation, such as 'mdex fixed.IP+' or, in SIMPro, the option DevicePro with the corresponding web.direct licence.
- web.direct must be enabled:
- For remote access to a mobile router, "HTTPS Remote Access" must be enabled on the router, see here.
- In order to access a connected device, it is necessary to configure port forwarding for the designated TCP port to the local IP address of the device.
Execute remote access via web.direct link
In mCOP 2.0 or SIMPro v5 - DevicePro, the desired SIM access typically has pre-configured web.direct links like "Default (HTTP)" and "Router (HTTPS Port 4444)". Web.direct must be enabled for use.
Clicking 'Call' will launch the web.direct link to access the device’s web interface:
The web.direct link URL can also be used directly in a web browser without logging into the portal. You can copy the URL using the copy icon.
web.direct Security
For security, all web.direct links are protected by the "Link Password", which must be entered when accessing the link. You can copy the link password using the copy icon:
In the authentication window, paste the link password using right-click - "Paste..." and then click 'Login':
If the SIM card is online, the web interface of the mobile router or device will open. A cookie will be saved, requiring re-authentication only if it expires or is deleted.
The link password can be changed if desired, and authentication can also be modified or disabled. Click the 'Edit' button next to the relevant web.direct link and make the desired adjustments as per this guide.
Example: Remote access to a Teltonika mobile router's WebUI
This example illustrates how to remotely access the WebUI of a Teltonika mobile router using the web.direct link, configured for HTTPS port 4444 as per this guide.
- Log in to the mCOP 2.0 or SIMPro v5 -> DevicePro.
- Select the desired SIM device.
- In the web.direct tile, click the copy icon next to the "Link password" to copy it, then click on 'Call':
- The web.direct authentication window will appear. Paste the copied link password in the field Link Password and click 'Login':
- The Teltonika WebUI will open for you to log in with the router's current username and password.
The procedure for accessing other systems connected to the mobile router is similar, requiring TCP port forwarding in the router and the device's accessibility. The web.direct link may need adjustment or an additional link added.
For adjusting the web.direct links, see this guide.
