The configuration of the pre-configured Teltonika routers from Wireless Logic mdex (delivered in Germany and the EU) deviates from the factory settings of Teltonika. Consequently, this configuration is stored in the router as User's default configuration. This is documented with a timestamp on the accompanying configuration sheet of the router, as illustrated in the example below:
This configuration serves as a foundation for the individual adjustments that the user may implement to optimise the router according to their specific requirements. However, it is possible that errors may occur during the configuration adjustments, resulting in the router functioning improperly. In such instances, the router provides the user with the option to restore the original configuration that was present upon receipt of the router. This feature is particularly beneficial for troubleshooting and restoring the functionality of the device.
To reset the router to the "User's default configuration", the user has two methods available:
Method 1: Reset via User Interface (WebUI) |
Method 2: Reset via RESET Button |
Method 1: Reset via User Interface (WebUI)
This method is conducted through the router's user interface (WebUI).
Verification of 'User's default Configuration' Stored in the Router
- Log in to the router's web interface (WebUI) using a browser.
- In the menu System > Maintenance > Reset Settings (from firmware version R_00.07.07.xx) or System Maintenance > Backup (up to firmware version R_00.07.06.xx), the timestamp of the last backup of a 'User's default Configuration' will be displayed under "Create date":
If a timestamp is absent, no backup is stored as "User's default configuration" in the router.
Caution: By clicking the 'Create' button, the current router configuration will be saved as "User's default configuration", thereby overwriting the original backup. Clicking the 'Remove' button will delete the stored "User's default configuration". In both cases, it will no longer be possible to revert to the original configuration that was present upon receipt of the router!
Resetting the Router to the Stored 'User's default Configuration'
Procedure from firmware version R_00.07.07.xx:
- Log in to the router's web interface (WebUI) using a browser.
- Navigate to the menu System > Maintenance > Reset Settings, select the option 'Users default configuration' under "Reset settings", and click the 'Reset' button:
Caution: Resetting to "factory defaults" will revert the router to the Teltonika factory settings and will result in the loss of all current configuration settings. Selecting "System settings" will reset all configuration settings except for RMS data, the mdcollect database, logs, and SIM PINs. In both cases, the stored "User's default configuration" will also be deleted, making it impossible to revert to the original configuration that was present upon receipt of the router! - The router will now restart and load the most recently saved "User's default configuration". This process may take several minutes.
Procedure up to firmware version R_00.07.06.xx:
- Log in to the router's web interface (WebUI) using a browser.
- Navigate to the menu System > Maintenance > Backup and click on 'Restore to user's default' under "Restore default settings":
Caution: Selecting "Restore to factory default" will reset the router to the Teltonika factory settings, resulting in the loss of all current configuration settings. The stored "User's default configuration" will also be deleted, making it impossible to revert to the original configuration that was present upon receipt of the router! - The router will now restart and load the most recently saved "User's default configuration". This process may take several minutes.
Method 2: Reset via RESET Button
This method resets the router to the "User's default configuration" using the reset button, which is located on either the front or the back of the router, depending on the model.
- The router must be fully powered on.
- Press and hold the RESET button on the router for at least 6 and a maximum of 11 seconds, then release it.
Caution: If the RESET button is held for longer than 12 seconds (up to 20 seconds), the router will reset to the Teltonika factory settings, resulting in the loss of all previous configurations as well as the "User's default configuration". In this case, it will no longer be possible to revert to the original configuration that was present upon receipt of the router! - The router will restart and load the most recently saved "User's default configuration". This process may take several minutes.
