No data transfer in passive FTP mode

Prerequisites

A SIM card with an accessible IP address is installed in the Teltonika router. An external FTP client shall retrieve data in passive FTP mode from an FTP server that is connected to the router. For this purpose, port forwarding of the required ports to the FTP server has been set up in the cellular router.

The Problem

FTP data transfer in passive mode worked smoothly with Teltonika routers using ‘Legacy Firmware’. However, after upgrading to Teltonika firmware RutOS7 (R_00.07.xx), FTP data transfer is no longer possible under the same conditions.

The Solution

Starting with Teltonika firmware RutOS7 (R_00.07.xx) the mode FTP passive connection tracking (FTP) mode must be activated in the router settings in order to enable passive FTP data transfers. Please follow the steps below:

1. Click on Network > Firewall > General Settings and disable the option 'Automatic helper assignment':

2. In Network > Firewall > General Settings under Zones click in the zone wan on Edit.

(If you are using an mdex fixed.IP+/publicIP with OpenVPN, you need to adjust the 'openvpn' zone.)

3. Go to Advanced Settings tab and select "FTP passive connection tracking (FTP)" mode from the Conntrack helpers drop-down menu.

4. Click on the button Save & Apply.

Passive FTP transfers shall be now be possible again.
